What's the Problem?
How might we help reduce cluttered closets in adults caused by the accumulation of unwanted garments held onto for sentimental reasons?
Opportunity
It is anticipated that the apparel recycling industry will expand from $6.49B in 2023 to $18B by 2033, at an annual growth rate of 10%. This offers a possibility to assist individuals in decluttering their wardrobes while respecting their emotional attachment to their garments.
Ideation
I combined Project Repat’s model of transforming T-shirts into blankets with a marketplace approach like Etsy and Fiverr. This fusion created a unique platform connecting users with artisans to upcycle various garments into new, cherished items.
My Solution
I built a web app that connects buyers with artisans to upcycle clothing, reducing waste. The platform generates revenue through advertising, commissions, and third-party cross-selling.
How It works
Created a storyboard to visually communicate have this product would work.
Success Metrics
These are metrics to monitor to ensure the operational excellence of the corporation remains elevated.
Revenue Streams
The platform generates revenue through advertising, commissions, and third-party cross-selling.
Ads
Makers can boost their accounts on the platform though ads.

Design Outcomes
Seamless Navigation
Easily find what you need with a clear navigation map and intuitive information architecture.
Tailored Experience
Designed to offer personalized services, matching each user’s preferences for a truly unique experience.
Order Tracking
Designed intuitive tracking systems that keep users informed about their order status at every step.
Usability Test
The usability testing revealed issues with the login and sign-up flow, as many users struggled to complete the task as intended. Based on their feedback, the flow will be adjusted in the second iteration. Overall, users found the site intuitive and easy to navigate, completing most tasks successfully.
Reflections
Developing Ogologo was a journey of innovation and user-centric design. Through extensive user research, I discovered the emotional attachment users have to garments like Aso Ebi dresses, which guided the creation of a solution that respects these sentiments while addressing closet clutter.
Combining Project Repat’s model with the dynamic platforms of Etsy and Fiverr, I envisioned a marketplace for upcycling cherished garments. Building a responsive web app with personalized orders, seamless navigation, and real-time tracking was key to enhancing user experience.
Challenges, such as maintaining experiment integrity, taught me the importance of strict protocols and adaptability. Unexpected user engagement from new channels highlighted the product’s potential.
Looking ahead, integrating AI technologies will enhance visualization and customization, streamlining the user journey and fostering engagement. This project underscored the value of balancing structure with flexibility and applying best practices early on.
Ogologo is a testament to thoughtful design and the transformative power of upcycling, equipping me with invaluable insights for future endeavors.
